What Are the Possible Causes of a Cough That Brings Up a Black Substance?
A good friend has been sick for about a week now. He is a seventeen year old male. His symptoms are: very sore throat, fever, cough, and then this morning (of October 3rd) a new symptom of coughing up a black substance has resulted. The only excuse I’ve found was through www.webmd.com and it implied cocaine abuse. I am absolutely positive he does not do cocaine. Help!

pollution?
old blood in lungs like dried clots
He should most DEFIANTLY go to the doctors. That Is NOT good!
hey it could be dried blood
or if he smokes it could be tar from hash
tell him to go to the hospital
Sounds to me like he’s been infected with Solanum Virus.
the black tar substance is probably some kind of outside source. I used to work in fiber glass and coughed up hunks of black stuff… it was really gross i would see what he has in contact with recently and get him to a er ASAP. And just for the record you can NEVER be positive someone isnt using drugs. My uncle died from a crack cocaine overdose when i was 12 and NOONE would EVER NEVER have thought he would use something like that. He was a brilliant doctor who often lectured about the dangers of drug use…just thought you should know that
Uhhh if he’s sick probably bronchitis. I would tell him to get it checked by a doctor either way
