This was an interesting debate at work today…please don’t yell at me I tried to present the question, not pick a side.

It didn’t disqualify George W Bush did it?
Our current president does, and did, drugs. If he doesnt, Im very disappointed that a sober person could make such stupid decisions.

No, if we barred everyone who ever tried cocaine there would be no candidates As long as he has a sound mind today and is not/has not been a user for a long period of time. I think he is a terrible candidate but would not support DQ’ing him for something like that.

What you have to realize is that all people running for president right now lived through the 70′s. They were old enough to do stupid and crazy things during that time. We shouldn’t judge them for their behaviors from 30+ years ago.
i dont think so….thats one of things that makes america great….in our society you can overcome the mistakes of your youth….on a side note I find it very refreshing that he was open and honest about his past…………out of the hundreds of politicians in Washington, I would be willing to bet he isnt the only one who ever experimented with drugs as a teenager…..but so far….he is the only one honest enought to admit it
Actually, I think having made poor decisions in the past and realizing how it affects others (among other consequences) would make him stronger, and a better candidate.
Only if we want to deem the last 8 years of Bush presidency invalid as well, as he was also known to use cocaine and other substances.
Obama has the dignity to admit his mistakes but Hillary and Bill never admit to theirs. The ability to admit mistakes is far more desirable than living in a constant state of denial as the Clinton’s do.
At this point, Obama can admit he is a child molester and he will still be elected. Americans are like sheep.. they just follow the biggest baaa… doesn’t matter if the thing doesn’t know what it is bleating about or not.
Oh well… time will tell.. I hope I am wrong.
