Colo. Man Gets 10 Years on Wyo. Cocaine Charge (KIFI Idaho Falls)

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) – District Judge Thomas Sullins has sentenced a man to 10 to 15 years in prison for delivering about half a pound of cocaine to a Casper motel last year.

Prosecutors said 30-year-old Edmundo Orozco brought the drugs to the Ranch House Motel on Sept. 4, and sold it to a confidential informant for $7,500.

Orozco, a Commerce City, Colo. resident, pleaded guilty to the charge in November.

Two Sentenced to Prison for Distributing Cocaine (WVVA Bluefield)

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (Press Release) – Two men were sentenced to prison Tuesday by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger for distributing cocaine. The convictions stem from investigations conducted by the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

James Kelsor, III, 37, of Northfork, West Virginia, was sentenced to 25 months in prison following his guilty plea in July 2009. Kelsor admitted that on March 5, 2009, he sold cocaine to a confidential informant working with task force agents.

Jerome Brown, 36, of Princeton, was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment for distribution of cocaine. Brown previously pled guilty in July 2009, admitting to the drug charge. According to court documents, Brown also sold cocaine to a confidential informant working with law enforcement authorities on March 5, 2009.

Sanchez Cocaine Ring Case Goes Federal (Telluride Daily Planet)

The case against Erik Sanchez, the once-smiling face at Telluride’s taco cart, gained tidal momentum this week when U.S. Attorneys announced federal charges against Sanchez and two others.

Sanchez, Marco Antonio Garcia-Garcia and Enrique Hernandez are charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute.

The conspiracy charge alone carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison in addition to a possible $4 million fine.

The three appeared in federal court in Grand Junction on Thursday, where they were advised of the charges against them. The other two people arrested in the Sept. 30 sting, Maria Vargas-Gonzales and Gilberto Garcia-Garcia, will be prosecuted on state charges in the Seventh Judicial District.

Bond for all suspects was set at $5 million.
