last year, i applied for a job as a youth counselor for a cruise line. i was highly qualified, had a successful interview, and got the job. i had signed my contract and sent them all of the required information (copy of passport, cpr/first aid certification, etc.), and then sent my medical report. i had been taking the medication vyvanse (an amphetamine) and wouldn’t have mentioned it expect that part of the medical report included a drug test that screened for amphetamines, so i wanted to clarify that this was a doctor prescribed medication- which i stated was for the treatment of ADD- and that i wasn’t like freebasing crystal meth or anything. anyway, i got a response a few days later saying that certain conditions and medications disqualified someone for being an eligible employee.
