I was prescribed 20mg Propranolol twice a day for anxiety, my Dr doesn’t know about my recreational cocaine use via snorting, on the weekends. I work in finance, I have a fairly high paid job, which at times can me extremely stressful. I wanted to know if there is any interaction or if cocaine can cause interaction with the beta blockers. Apart from the initial stimulant while taking cocaine. I’d of course not take any doses on the day I’d be doing cocaine and possibly drinking some alcohol and maybe one or two cigars.
By the way I am 30 years old and pretty healthy, apart from the odd anxiety/panic attacks, which are totally random.
mildred f, I’d rather go with a bang-anyway. In any case, recently about 2 months ago I saw a teenage kid die under the tires of a large lorry. He was only 18 years old. So, for me personally I’d rather enjoy my life now than to worry about the inevitable, which is death. We all die in the end.
Doccan thanks for the response, that is totally strange about the vodka and red-bull/monster thing, basically in the UK those are common alcohol mixes, I mean I’ve had my fair share of tripe, and quad vodka and red bull mixes. If I stop taking my beta blockers for the day that I am going to do the drink, drugs and sex will it make a difference? I definitely should have studied medicine rather than finance. I had an ECG and the nurse told me it was perfectly fine, I’ve had ECGs a few times now and my readings have always come out perfect, and healthy. I just don’t get why I keep thinking I have a weak heart due to a few “palpitations” now and then when I am under pressure at work. Maybe, I’m just becoming paranoid. Yeah, I think I’ll put the drugs away for a while, have a final blowout and then see how that works out. Could always use the money to go out on a holiday.

You can have many happy years like this. Then one day go do your normals things, come home and drop dead. Cocaine causes powerful constriction of your heart. You are unlikely to survive and cannot be an organ donor. The propranolol will not have any effect at the small dose you are taking, though it might prolong your life a seconds.

Cocaine is the wrong thing for someone with anxiety issues, and it is competing with your beta blockers.
Your doctor will get you into a treatment program.
